blue Horizon
At Blue Horizon, we transform how plastic waste is recycled through cutting-edge pyrolysis technology. This process enables the recycling of a broader range of plastic types than other recycling methods, as we collaborate with global partners to support a sustainable economy and create meaningful environmental impact.
Pyrolysis is at the core of our circular approach, allowing a wide range of plastic waste to be recycled almost endlessly. Through high-temperature, oxygen-free processing, plastics are broken down into reusable resources like Pyroil and syngas. Pyroil re-enters the production cycle as a raw material, while the syngas powers our operations, removing our electricity demand from the grid. This closed-loop system reduces waste, cuts emissions, and supports a truly circular economy.
Collected plastic waste enters Blue Horizon’s facility, marking the first step in transforming discarded materials into valuable resources. By diverting plastic from landfills and oceans, as well as incarceration plants, we address both waste reduction and resource creation, setting the stage for a sustainable circular process.
Once inside the facility, the plastic waste is sorted, washed, and shredded into pellets before going into the pyrolysis reactor. In case suppliers provide feedstock in pellet form, these pellets go directly into the reactor. This vital preparation step ensures that only the right types of plastic enter the next phase, optimizing the efficiency of the conversion process. This careful handling readies the plastic for transformation, making sure it meets the quality standards necessary for effective recycling.
Our advanced pyrolysis technology heats the prepared plastic in an oxygen-free environment, breaking down the polymers into smaller hydrocarbon chains. This process converts the plastic into a mixture of gasses and liquid hydrocarbons, known as Pyroil. Unlike other recycling methods, pyrolysis allows us to handle mixed and lower-grade plastics, making it an ideal method for plastics that would otherwise end up in landfills or incinerators.
Plastic Pyrolysis produces Pyroil—a sustainable resource that replaces traditional raw materials in plastic production. By integrating Pyroil into manufacturing, Blue Horizon enables a closed-loop system where plastics are continuously recycled. Additionally, the pyrolysis process produces Pyrolysis gas powers the reactors, and syngas which is used to generate electricity, reducing reliance on external energy. This holistic approach minimizes virgin resource use and lowers environmental impact, fostering a truly circular economy.
